About the speakers

Rhys Jones + Tom Beverly (Acknack ltd)

Acknack Ltd is a company based in Bangor, North Wales, that specialises in mobile and tablet based applications. Their latest product, PageSend, turns iPads into fully interactive whiteboards, allowing anyone to watch, record and share ideas as well as collaborate online in realtime.

The company is run by Rhys Jones and Thomas Beverley.  Rhys is a successful technology entrepreneur, having founded, grown and subsequently sold two internet companies (SecureTrading Ltd and Accountis plc). Tom, a recent CompSci graduate from Bangor University, has extensive expertise in collaborative web applications and mobile application development, and has recently received an award for this from Google in Silicon Valley.

Rebecca Colley-Jones - Digital technologies and Environmental Design

Rebecca has over 12 years experience in the environmental and waste management profession. Her main focus is delivering waste management and sustainable construction solutions to business.

She currently divides her time between; Welsh Institute of Natural Resources Bangor University, where she specializes in resource management and sustainable construction, and her own consultancy Ynys Resources which is working with various companies to develop new markets for resources such as manufactured top soils and developing new resource management facilities on Anglesey.

Her ambition is to do away with waste management and concentrate on resource management!!

Chris Headleand - Social networking and new media dissemination

Chris Headleand is an IT and innovation consultant who specializes in project management for web software development. He has worked on a number of large projects including applications for the European Union, EU sponsored initiatives and large PLC’s in the UK. He is an expert in social media and web 2.0 principles specifically in their applications within business and marketing.

He graduated from Bangor University in 2008 with a degree in design and has since managed his own web development business. He currently sits on the board for two software companies and a sports fashion label he also lectures in Creative Technologies at Coleg Harlech.

The seminar is part of the Creative Hubs project, supported with Welsh Government funding to promote youth entrepreneurship. It is a partnership between Coleg Harlech WEA (N),Coleg Llandrillo, Coleg Powys and Coleg Ceredigion, and aims to raise awareness of business start up opportunities for learners and the advantages of engaging with new technology.

Representatives from the Dyfodol project will also be in attendance which is a partnership project between Coleg Harlech WEA, Coleg Llandrillo, Coleg Menai and Deeside College.
