Social Studies Course and Pathway to Nursing Modules

Social Psychology

Starting with a look at the conditions under which we are most likely to conform with others, we then study helping behaviour and other prosocial responses. The question of what causes individual to help or not, is then followed by behavioural studies in the context of large groups.

AIMS
The main focus is the study of the behaviour of individuals in a social context, looking in particular at conformity, altruism, obedience, bystander apathy and crowd behaviour. Examine the ethical consideration of work within the social psychology discipline.
