Social Studies Course and Pathway to Nursing Modules

Medical Ethics

This module is a general introduction to medical ethics. Ethical, legal and moral issues are woven seamlessly into the fabric of the practice of health care professionals.

This module will assist individuals wishing to enter the health care professions to begin to learn how ethical considerations are determined.

All human beings have to cope with uncertainty; this is especially the case for health care professionals, because, as such, they deal with the random pressures of biology, disease, personalities and politics.

This module will provide a comprehensive foundation of ethical issues relevant to health care and prepare the individual for their future path as a professional.

AIM
The aim of this module is to generate an understanding of the principles of medical ethics and enable the individual to develop articulate thinking, balance and judgement, which are informed by ethical considerations.
