Developmental Psychology

In this module you will be introduced to the study of infant and child development. Emphasis will be on how biological, cognitive, learning, and social development processes are interrelated. An understanding of social and emotional development, gender-role development, the role of family, cognitive development, and development of attachments.

AIMS
The aims for the module include attaining a critical understanding of major theories of the sequence and processes of development Too see how physical, cognitive and social development are interrelated Examine the strengths and weaknesses of various research methods of developmental psychology To give a consideration of how developmental theories are applied to real-life issues that affect the well-being of children
