Student Support staff are also in touch with specialist agencies, come and see us if you have any concerns or queries. Services available to help you studyWe understand you may be worried when you have not studied for a long time and we will help you get the most from your course. How will I know how much support I need? During your first week at college, we will carry out a short assessment of your study and support needs with you. The results are confidential and will be used to help us provide you with the appropriate level of support. Study SkillsAs part of your course you will be asked to carry out research and produce and present your work in a variety of ways i.e. written, verbal, practical etc. Study Skills sessions are an essential part of your course which provide you with any extra help you need to complete all the elements of your course. These include an introduction to Information Technology, Communication skills and any help you need working with numbers. Counselling ServiceYou may at times feel the need to talk to someone who can provide expert help with a variety of problems. If this is the case you may wish to talk in confidence to our Student Counsellor who may also be able to refer you to other external specialist agencies. Additional SupportIf you feel that you have additional needs such as a physical disability or other needs for example dyslexia or mental health, please contact us to discuss your particular circumstances. LibraryThe Library has a vast collection of books, including the subjects taught at the College. However, it is much more than a place with a lot of books on shelves, the Library is also an electronic centre where all students have access to the University of Wales online resources. It is a quiet place to work, look for information and collect mail. |
