Are you interested in working in the music industry? Do you want to broaden your musical horizons and join like-minded people to develop your creative and compositional skills? Want to have the opportunity to record your own original sounds using the latest computer and studio technology?

Or perhaps you are interested in what goes on behind the scenes.

This course will suit aspiring and gigging musicians, those interested in production techniques and songwriters who wish to develop their interest further through the medium of English or Welsh.

No qualifications are necessary just an enthusiasm for the subject is required.

Teaching takes place at Coleg Harlech, a small, friendly college with an excellent reputation for the quality of its teaching and its resources.

You will spend your time at Harlech immersed in composing, practising, recording, production/engineering, filming and editing.

During the course you will have the opportunity to use the latest computer and studio technology to create your own demo's and turn out professional moving imagery with sound tracks on cd or dvd. You will also get the feel of a real stage in a real theatre.

The course consists of 12 modules worth 10 credits each (level 3) as follows

  1. Recording Studio Techniques
  2. Modern Composition
  3. MIDI Sequencing and Devices
  4. Radio Journalism + Production

Term Two

  1. Technical Studio Recording
  2. Audio Composition
  3. Sampling and Synthesis
  4. Broadcast Media

Term Three

  1. Multi Track Recording
  2. Composition Portfolio
  3. Studio Music - MIDI project
  4. The Music Business:Production + Promotion

Students will also be made aware of technological developments in an ever-evolving field.

Communication and study skills will also be included as part of the course.
