Module 4 - Music Business: Production and Promotion
This module develops on from the previous term with more emphasis on the use
of computers in the studio. Intro to Apple Mac G5. Techniques learnt last term
will be translated to the software environment. Recording, editing and mastering
will be done using the Mac as the main studio multi-tracker. Work done on Reason
and Cubase in the MIDI suite will be transferred to the main studio for addition
of live elements (acoustic/electric instruments, vocals etc). On completion
of this module each student will keep an original CD recording and produce a
written summary of the creative and technical processes involved. Also a weekly
lecture is delivered to crystallise and explore related issues.
AIMS
The aim of the module is to develop more sophisticated audio production, incorporating
computers, from pre-production planning to recording followed by mastering.
