Born in Bolton of Scottish and Geordie immigrants in 1957, I followed the traditional route into teaching. Bolton County Grammar School and University of Manchester; graduating in 1981 with a lovely degree in Mathematics.

I then followed nouvelle cuisine and trendy bistros into 15 years of catering; doing everything from kitchen porter to Catering Manager. Then, as luck would have it, I ended up in Harlech, where I left hotel management for the joys of the Information Superhighway.

After gaining a PGCE in 1997 I taught short IT courses and worked on European projects at Coleg Harlech.

In 2001 I was employed full-time at Coleg Harlech WEA (N) working on the University of Wales Foundation Certificate. Initially concentrating on IT the course evolved into Multimedia, encompassing Animation, Photography, Video and the Web.

I am the current Ansell's Snooker champion in the local snooker league. My highest break is 104. My favourite film is The Apartment. My favourite software is Blender.
