Student Profile - CharlotteMusic Technology Course I
wasn’t doing a lot before coming to Coleg Harlech, I had dropped out of
university a few years ago after choosing the wrong course. I had a number of
part time jobs and was just bumming around really.
My love of music prompted me to come, Mum saw an advert in the paper and suggested I apply for it. I had gone for a number of music jobs and not been very successful, so I ended up here. It’s a brilliant course, the studio is the main thing, we’ve got a band working in there now and I spend lot of my time doing the recording, sitting-in behind the mixing desk. Also I enjoyed doing the radio module last term, I had a lot of fun doing that and gained a lot of experience. The concert we did last term was fantastic, I was stage manager for that, the energy and vibe we got from that was just brilliant. I loved it. I have dyslexia so I spend lot of time in student support, it is brilliant.
I’ve never had so much support with this. One of the main reasons I left
university was because I didn’t get much support. I have been offered a place at uni to do live music and promotion, how to set up gigs. I would advise people to get some money behind them first, the bursary is good
but it doesn’t go very far. The lecturers are amazing, the support and help and encouragement is fantastic. I’ve never had so much encouragement it is always positive. |
