The module is a general introduction to colour theory and to consider the potential offered in the surrounding landscape. Students will be required to experiment and develop skills using a variety of traditional and digital media.

AIMS

The aim of the module is to develop an understanding of colour through practical assignments and to describe theories and characteristics of colour harmonies by identifying artists who are noted for their innovative use of colour both in paint and photography. Students will look at artists’ works to learn how to mix colours to create a chosen value, hue and intensity and gain experience in brush strokes and paint application techniques used by these artists. Landscape features and compositions will be introduced using a variety of traditional and digital media.
