Creative Arts and Design Technologies Full Time Course

Experimental Ceramics

Throughout this Module contextual and visual studies promote ways of working with ideas through innovation and personal discovery. Thus, materials are used for those properties appropriate to solving problems and expressing ideas, not primarily to hone a particular skill. The Module structure enables a balance of creative and technical skills, choosing materials in relation to artistic development. Essential background information is provided on types of clays and glazes and the various firing methods. The Remainder of the Module is practical.

AIMS
The aim of the module is to encourage a broad and experimental approach to materials and processes and thus form a general introduction to basic ceramic constructional techniques, materials and firing methods.
