Archaeology CourseFrom the Global to the Local 29/03/2010 – 01/04/2010 BOOK ON-LINE or Download the booking form here Learners will need to bring a packed lunch As a discipline archaeology has a huge breadth and the course will illustrate this in the sections that relate to the dispersal of our species out of Africa and what happened when we got to Europe. Talks will also cover our transition from hunter-gatherer lifeways to agriculture – a crucial moment for our species. Further combinations of lectures and fieldwork will provide the student with a basic understanding of Iron Age and Medieval societies. Whilst there will be lectures and seminars at Coleg Harlech students will also be out looking at cromlechs, stone circles, standing stones, Iron Age landscapes and a 19th century field system. Whilst provision will be made for the less mobile student, those who wish to participate fully in the fieldwork aspects should bring stout footwear and wet weather clothing. View the Itinerary here |
