Tutor - James Berry Biography

A passionate and enthusiastic local historian and writer. James has been teaching courses for the WEA for over ten years now in the Conwy area. A regular speaker and visiting lecturer he has done much to encourage the study of local history in the Conwy area. Although with wide knowledge of Welsh History, James has particular interests in Roman Wales and Ecclesiastical History and more recently has developed an interest in Womens History. His recent course for Coleg Harlech WEA - Women in Welsh History - proved very popular and was well received.
The course includes consideration and discussion of the following
Celtic Women- Paradise Lost?
The Church and Women
The influence of Roman heritage and the Christian Church on Welsh Women.
The portrayal of the Medieval woman in Welsh Poetry
Catherine of Berain. The study of a Tudor woman.
Women and the Religious Revival and
Welsh Women in 1900
Accommodation is available the price for full board and tuition is £300
